Updates:  Make sure you check out the West Regional Ranking predictions!

I believe that win gets HSU the wildcard into the ASC Tournament. Congrats!

Good match between UMHB and Southwestern. It goes 5-sets with UMHB taking the win. Miranda Klein had to take over the setting and finished with 47 assists. COrinne Novak had 20 kills. The Pirates had 18 service aces in this one and that is a problem for the Cru going forward. Southwestern was led by Grace Glasscock in this department who had 5 aces. Looking through Southwestern’s schedule and I don’t see a potential regional ranked win so I believe their at-large chances are gone. They will have to earn their spot through their tournament. UMHB couldn’t afford a loss here and they did what they needed in that 5th set.

Whittier will not go gently into that good night. Only a match and a half behind both La Verne and Cal Lu now.

Pomona-Pitzer with the comeback to pull within a match back from La Verne and Cal Lu.

Both Chapman and CMS win but each dropped a set. Chapman’s Sophie Srivastava with another triple-double to add to her lead (10) for the nation.

The last 2 spots for the SCIAC Tournament aren’t so cut and dry as I thought just a few days ago.

Regional rankings come out tomorrow. I had Cal Lu in the 8th spot but it just appears that no one in the West wants that ranking.

Random Thoughts:  Conference matches across the board tonight.

The ASC match is quite important because an HSU win on the road will wrap up a wildcard spot in their tournament.

Regionally, the Southwestern/UMHB match is very important. A UMHB win keeps things status quo but a Southwestern win cracks open the regional ranking door and at-large possibilities.

Centenary is playing DI Grambling State tonight. Always interesting this series and an example how DIII volleyball can match-up against DI opponents. Their previous meeting this year at Centenary ended in 5-sets.

The Whitworth/Whitman match should be an easy one for the Pirates but Whitman has been playing better lately. Watch out.

Pomona-Pitzer needs a win tonight to keep their slim SCIAC Tournament hopes alive. They would love to see Whittier take down Cal Lutheran, too. La Verne/Chapman is really a must win for both teams. Chapman can’t afford losses and La Verne is trying to hold on to their SCIAC Tournament position.
