Troll (1986)

Director: John Carl Buechler

Starring: Michael Moriarty, Shelley Hack, Noah Hathaway

A wicked troll king in search of a mystical ring that will transform him to human form invades a San Francisco apartment complex where a powerful witch lives.

I realize this is a comedy horror, but what the bloody hell was this?? Good heavens, this was bad. Bad script, bad acting, and just plain stupid. This is by far one of the worst movies I’ve seen in a while.

I’ll admit, the make-up and the production design wasn’t bad. Heather O’Rourke look-alike Jenny Beck over-acted the worst she possibly could as Wendy – a girl who switches places with a troll, or becomes possessed by him, or become his alter ego, or…or… oh, whatever, it doesn’t make sense anyway!

The best characters by far were Malcolm (Phil Fondacaro) and Eunice St Clair (June Lockhart), who saved the film to a certain extent, but only the scenes they were in! I honestly couldn’t wait for this to end.

Interesting fact: The main character is called Harry Potter!! So, we had a Harry Potter back in 1986 already. How did JK Rowling come up with the name Harry Potter for her fantasy series again…?

Would I watch it again? No.
