Sampled-sonics drop, pitched low blunted. Vox FX siren high, pitched up. Synth sparkles, ear candy remarkables. ..And, ‘The battle is on’, LA based DJ and Producer, ‘Hamster’, runs the production wheel fast, with another slice of EDM Pop, only short weeks after releasing, ‘The Mundane Protocol’, and ‘Star Like U’ (ft. Paloma Rush). Newest single, ‘Friction’, features the vocal talent of Lily Lewis, co-written by the singular Ari.
‘Don’t you try to disarm me’, kick arrives steady, heavy thud, metro-tronic. A bass line grooves under the low synth groove. ..And, ‘I am warrior strong,’ Lily mouths the phonetic loose, laid back, she grooves. ‘..And, ‘You can not destroy me,’ the gifted vocalist sings talk, breathing the words in and out, laid back in her comfort zone, she grooves.
Vox FX delayed, feedback. ‘Feel it.’ ‘Feel it.’ Low synth, pitch slinks the groove slinked. ..And, ‘Feel that friction in the air’. Chorus drops so smoove, almost unnoticed. ‘Unconditional despair’, juxtaposed odd, difficult. Is that you Ari? Hamster plays the stereo field easy, torn pieces of vocals FX-twisted. He nests stereophonic. ‘Everywhere’ ‘Everywhere’.
Change it up. And.. ‘See your head in the window’, lyrics poured upwards, gravity defying. Liquid harmonics, smelted gentle. ‘Shot you down with a pistol’, rhymes forced words mispronounced. Break it down. Synths stab electro-fizz, drying the reverb. Chipped glass, chipped percussive. Vox FX pitched down, down. Lily lazes vowels. Vocal lines idle in the ambient. The synth is the idol. Panned left. Panned right. Driving the track, tight.
The track drops and repeats. ‘Should I dig up your house key?’ Lily muses, ‘Should I f** up your car?’ Words darken. The song remains the same. Chorus. Change it up. Break it down. Break right down. Stop. Soulful backing vocals bip. Motown echos Blue Note vibe. The synth is the idol. Is that you Serum? Change it up and repeat. Repeated. Overlap. Vox FX-ed pitch twisted. Stereo field play. ‘Get you out of my sy-sto-oo-emmmm.’ Pitch-grind-halted-to-a-bass line grooves under the low synth groove. ‘Get you out of my system’. ..and, stop.
