Tiger Pines, C&H defeat Healthplex 5-0

Last hole, one shot down, US Open on the line.  Tee shot lands on the beach, second shot finds the rough, 3rd shot on the green – now tell me you weren’t watching.  Winners find a way to win or should I say Tigers find a way to Tiger…

We lost our last match and all we control now is our own performance.  The rest will sort itself out without our ability to control it.  Failure is a condition all of us experience.  It’s our reaction to our failures that distinguishes winners from losers. There is no quit in us.  Like Vince Lombardi’s teams, they never lose, they just run out of time.  Defeats are temporary.  Heart and class are permanent.

Since I started with Golf I’ll take it a step further.  Cary Grant, Marilyn Monroe, Alfred Hitchcock, and Steven Spielberg – none ever won an Oscar.  Babe Ruth was never named Most Valuable Player.  Thomas Jefferson, John Quincy Adams and Andrew Jackson all lost elections for the presidency before they won one.  Losers?

No.

Legends.

Robert Frost wrote, Two roads diverged in a wood, and I –I took the one less traveled by,And that has made all the difference.

What does that me in Chambermaid & Ho ease?  Good question.  I may be very off track.  The Tiger thing got me waxing poetically, pontificating and yes, just plain beating my gums.  But I’ll tell you what it means to me.

Have confidence in what you do, never ever quit, give it your all, every time.  When your opponent hits a clear winner, don’t applaud first, throw a racket at it and it might just land on the other side of the net, and it might just be the beginning of a come back…

Saturday morning I rolled into our 4.5 match at 8:48am to find 3 of our 8 players and the entire other team.  Our team showed up in time but we lost the match to Awbury Captained by Chuck Jones who is an all around good guy.  I’d like to be typing up how we knocked them off but they were the better team on Saturday – congrats to them. I did get some good photos.  http://www.kodakgallery.com/I.jsp?c=ggush3n.augl97n7&x=0&y=n8kwdd&localeid=en_US

I sped to our 4.0 match at 11am against Healthplex.  We played in a sauna and fortunately we did not lose a court, a set and just nine games total.  I was impressed with Terry Irwin who put up a great fight against Canh Ho. I was also impressed with my doubles partner Tom Faith – you da man Tommy!

On the Great Valley front, Bill Eyre and Ed Daou won their court against GV – your check is in the mail boys. This week we play the Drunken Fools on Saturday and then Tennis Addiction on Sunday.  Time for us to sink that putt…
