Thursday, October 5 Match Day

Update: Just back from the long Tyler drive. I really thought the SU/UTT match was going to be a trap game for SU. Back end of a double-header playing on an away court. It ended up not to be but I came away impressed with UTT. They remind me of a men’s team in the way they pound the ball. They have a number of hitters that just terminate. Their problem is that sometimes the termination goes against them. Still, very fun to see some of the hits they put down. SU was their normal solid self but added a blocking component against UTT that helped greatly.

Random Thoughts: So, this is a rather long story that I’m not going to get into but I have a yoga class tonight. It’s the first class for this particular session and it’s supposed to build into something more difficult in a couple of months. But, I forgot I was planning on driving out to Tyler for the matches there. Decisions, right? I guess if I get a promise that the UTT parents won’t throw out the strange guy doing sun salutations in the stands, then I should be good to miss the class.

Third meeting between SU and ETBU today. Strange scheduling quirk. Grambling State returns the favor to Centenary and comes to their place tonight. Grambling won a close 5-set match the last time they played. West RAC ranking implications in the SU/UTT match as SU tries to maintain their spot while a UTT victory would give them a signature win come selection time.
