Thursday, Oct 2 Match Day!

Updated: Oct 4

Updates: The NPI Rankings have been updated through yesterday’s matches.

Whittier gets the sweep tonight. First set blow out but the next two were close. Malena The “Goddess” with 13 kills while Olivia Harrison had 11 for Chapman.

Nationally, John Jay improved to 11-2. Wesleyan goes to 10-1. Kean moves to 15-2. Montclair State beat New Jersey City. Both teams now with only 3-losses apiece. Coe beat UW-Platteville in 4-sets while St Norbert took 5-sets to beat 6-win Lakeland.

Nothing of note. At least nothing where I saw two Top 100 NPI teams playing each other.

West Schedule:

Random Thoughts:

We just have the one rare SCIAC match. Not sure why this is on Thursday but my guess is someone had a conflict tomorrow. Oh! I know what it is. Whittier is headed up to UC Santa Cruz on Saturday and that’s a travel day for them.

As for the match, I think Whittier is in a tier below La Verne and above the rest of the conference. (Not sure where CMS fits but they are either with Whittier or slightly better.) So, I think they win this match. With that said, Chapman has a nice win over Redlands (who just beat Pomona-Pitzer) and a surprising loss to Occidental. So, not sure how they will show for this but it’s clear there is a wide space between their floor and ceiling. Here’s hoping for the ceiling and a good match against the Poets.
