The Ziegfeld Girls Revue

Today is the birthday of the great showman Flo Ziegfeld — seemed like the proper time to let you know about The Ziegfeld Girls Revue, playing at the The Green Room 42 (and livestreaming) on April 13. Presented by Nicole Nadine, the show promises to tell the Follies girls’ fascinating rags to riches stories, scandalous personal lives, which are heartbreaking, but often inspiring, through song, dance, comedy. The characters are portrayed by modern-day Ziegfeld girl equivalents: Seedy Edie is Louise Brooks, Dandy Dillinger is Mae Murray,Rosie Cheeks is Olive Thomas, Kimberly Fay Greenberg plays Fanny Brice, and Whiskey Jules plays…Julie Newmar? (Seems a bit late for this time travel excursion, though her mom had been a showgirl of about the right age). Anyway for tickets and info on that show, go here.

The last time I reviewed a Ziegfeld themed revue in the theatre district in 2015 it was a bona fide bloodbath, and feelings were hurt, so I’ll prob give this one in a pass. But don’t let that stop yer from checking it out yerself!
