The Value of Practice – The Volleyball Statistics Spreadsheet Example

Introduction

I am a huge believer in the value of practice for the pursuit of excellence (see previous blog post).  This was demonstrated to me by the time it took to build the various versions of my volleyball statistics spreadsheet.

The Work Hours

The table below shows the approximate work hours it took to build the various parts of the spreadsheet.

Version 1 is my first attempt and Version 2 is my second attempt (see previous blog post) at building a volleyball spreadsheet according to performance indicators I look for.  I created Version 3 for a Head Coach I am currently working for, who has a different way to analyse performance.

The Lesson

The dramatic decrease in time to build the various volleyball spreadsheets has shows me value of practice and the benefit of experience.
