Rafting expert Gail takes on a pair of armed killers while navigating a spectacularly violent river.

White water rafting enthusiasts will love this movie! The film shows both how tranquil and dangerous a river can be. The cinematography is beautiful and I loved the nature element, and adventure.

‘The River Wild’ teaches us a very important lesson: don’t be too hasty to trust strangers. Never judge a book by its cover is so well illustrated here – figuratively, off course. Meryl Streep is excellent as the film’s protagonist, Gail. I loved her strong personality. The characters are well set-up, and this is also a very good example of good character development. Also take note of the finer details throughout the beginning, which plays a part later on.

Although the film does take its time setting up the scenario before danger ensues, it is never boring and allows us time to get to know all the characters – similar to ‘Deliverance’. There’s a great deal of suspense, and relatable character issues. The film also features a beautiful score. ‘The River Wild’ is an amazing action adventure thriller, and very entertaining.

‘The River Wild’ earned $94.2 million on a $45 million budget. Meryl Streep received award nominations for Best Actress.

Would I watch it again? Yes.
