Opening today (through August 21) at the New York Public Library Performing Arts Branch is this swell exhibition and film screening series The Peregrinations and Pettifoggery of W.C. Fields. NYPL has boatloads of Fields ephemera, playbills, clippings, photos, etc, much of which I waded through when researching No Applause. (Interestingly, they make you wear Fields-like white gloves when you handle the research materials).  My pal Steve Massa helped curate the film series (schedule below), and for more info on the overall exhibition, go here.
