The Midnight Man (2016)

Director: Travis Zariwny
Starring: Summer H. Howell, Keenan Lehmann, Meredith Rose, Lin Shaye, Robert England
A girl and her friends find a game in the attic that summons a creature known as The Midnight Man, who uses their worst fears against them.
The film started really creepy and promising with great visuals. It was rather disturbing seeing kids getting killed they way they did.
The clever photography made it even scarier. Sadly, though, the film didn’t keep me interested throughout. Maybe it was too much a case of been there, done that, and it didn’t really offer that much we haven’t seen before. The way they decided to start playing the game was not believable at all, and why would they if they didn’t know what it was all about?
I enjoyed seeing Robert England and Lin Shaye here, but unfortunately their characters were not strong enough to save the film. It had so much potential, but the script just wasn’t engaging enough. Still, I think I sense a franchise in the making…
