The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996)

Director: Renny Harlin
Starring: Geena Davis, Samuel L. Jackson, Brian Cox, Yvonne Zima
Government agents come after an amnesiac woman, who gradually remembers her past.
Samantha (Geena Davis) can’t remember her past. She lives with her boyfriend Hal, and her daughter Caitlin. When she woke up next to the road 8 years ago, she was two months pregnant. She has no idea who the father is or how she got there. Several private detectives hired to uncover her past delivered no results. Now, she teams up with the latest detective, Mitch (Samuel L. Jackson), who tries to unravel her mystery.
Shortly after a car accident, Samantha starts remembering things. When Mitch finds a case belonging to her, and a note to contact Nathan (Brian Cox), it is revealed she is an elite government assassin who was trained by Nathan. Her last mission failed, and now rogue cops are out to terminate her. This sets in motion an action-packed, roller coaster ride of events with fantastic action sequences. There’s loads of action and the climax is stunning.
Geena Davis makes a credible action hero, and I enjoyed her and Samuel L. Jackson as a duo.
Would I watch it again? Yes.
