Director: F. Gary Gray

Starring: Charlize Theron, Mark Wahlberg, Edward Norton, Donald Sutherland, Jason Statham

After being betrayed and left for dead in Italy, Charlie Croker and his team plan an elaborate gold heist against their former ally.

‘The Italian Job’ is a remake of the 1969 film of the same name. This 2003 version is miles better than the original film!

The film revolves around a group of thieves who plan their retirement after their biggest and most daring heist. Their celebrations soon turn sour when one of their members, Steve, goes rogue, taking the money and leaving them for dead. The rest of the members then stand together to avenge him, and plan to steal it back. They involve the help of a safe specialist and technician, Stella (Charlize Theron), who has a personal vendetta against Steve.

The careful planning of their mission was just as exciting as the execution and the film remained interesting throughout. When the film shifted into full-throttle revenge gear, it delivered some stunning action sequences. As Steve tried to outfit the gang, the action and suspense intensified to bring us an action-packed, thrilling finale.

‘The Italian Job’ is one hell of a remake and incredibly entertaining at that! It has the added bonus of emotional depth, good characterization and a well set-up plot and development.

‘The Italian Job’ earned $176 million on a $60 million budget. It also received several award nominations.

Would I watch it again? Yes, definitely.
