The Intouchables (2011)

Director: Olivier Nakache, Éric Toledano

Starring: François Cluzet, Omar Sy, Anne Le Ny

After he becomes a quadriplegic from a paragliding accident, an aristocrat hires a young man from the projects to be his caregiver.

‘The Intouchables’ is an inspiring and uplifting story of an unlikely friendship. The lead actors (Francois Cluzet and Omar Sy) are excellent in their respective roles.

Despite a troublesome background, Driss (Omar Sy) only sees the good in everyone and wants everybody to do good. His presence has a positive effect on those around him and becomes more than just the quadriplegic’s right hand. This is a touching and engaging film of true friendship, and sends out a wonderful, positive message. Beautiful.

‘The Intouchables’ won several awards for Best Foreign Film and Best Actor (Omar Sy). The film set several records at the time of release, including becoming the most-watched French film. It earned $426 million on a $10 million budget!
