The Hunt (2012)

Director: Thomas Vinterberg

Starring: Mads Mikkelsen, Thomas Bo Larsen, Annika Wedderkopp

A teacher lives a lonely life, all the while struggling over his son’s custody. His life slowly gets better as he finds love and receives good news from his son, but his new luck is about to be brutally shattered by an innocent little lie.

Just like the 2013 Korean film ‘Hope’, ‘The Hunt’ is one of the most important films you’ll see. It is emotionally charged and so incredibly well acted that it hurts where it matters most.

Mads Mikkelsen is excellent as Lucas, a teacher who falls victim to false accusations. His life literally falls to pieces when his good friend and employer, Grethe (Susse Wold) causes a snowball effect when she prematurely jumps to conclusions. What happens next is a nightmare journey for Lucas to prove his innocence.

It is so easily assumed that children always tell the truth. This film disagrees and should be an eye-opener. This is a film everyone should see. It is shockingly good. Mads Mikkelsen and Annika Wedderkopp (as Klara) are exceptional!!

‘The Hunt’ is an incredible film with a great script that will haunt you long after the credits roll.
