The Edge (1997)

Director: Lee Tamahori

Starring: Anthony Hopkins, Alec Baldwin

An intellectual billionaire and two lesser men struggle to band together and survive after getting stranded in the Alaskan wilderness with a blood-thirsty Kodiak Bear hunting them down.

Hopkins’ character was well set-up from the very beginning. The acting from the leading men – especially Hopkins – was very good. I enjoyed the remote forest setting and the call to adventure. A few nice twists thrown in the mix, as well.

Thrilling and suspenseful, this exceptionally well made adventure thriller delivers. The bear attack scenes were incredibly realistic.

‘The Edge’ was nominated for Best Picture, and Best Actor (Anthony Hopkins).
