The Cursed (Aka Eight for Silver) (2021)

Director: Sean Ellis
Starring: Boyd Holbrook, Kelly Reilly, Alistair Petrie
A brutal land baron massacres a Gypsy clan claiming his land, unleashing a curse that brings monstrous consequences to his village.
Land baron Seamus Laurent (Alistair Petrie) forcefully removes Gypsies from their land to claim as his own. Seamus has their village destroyed and their people killed. A clan member’s hands and feet are cut off and he is made into a scarecrow, while the leader is being buried alive – but not before she casts a spell on the land.
Soon after, the townspeople are being plagued by nightmares of a scarecrow. When a young boy digs up silver teeth buried at the feet of the scarecrow, he attacks Seamus’ son Edward. Edward falls ill and then disappears. With Edward and his wife Isabelle (Kelly Reilly) frantically looking for Edward, Pathologist John McBride (Boyd Holbrook) is called to investigate. After experiencing terrible nightmares himself, John John manages to capture and kill a creature responsible for the deaths of several townspeople, but their nightmare is still far from over…
‘The Cursed’ is a stylish supernatural horror with good effects and a creepy atmosphere. Thanks to a good cast and overall good production, it was much better than expected.
Would I watch it again? Yes.
