The Crazies (2010)

Director: Breck Eisner

Starring: Radha Mitchell, Timothy Olyphant, Danielle Panabaker

After a strange and insecure plane crash, an unusual toxic virus enters a quaint farming town. A young couple are quarantined, but they fight for survival along with help from a couple of people.

‘The Crazies’ is a remake of the 1973 film. This 2010 film grips you from the opening, and never lets go. The film is tense with non-stop suspense, action, and entertainment. It never really offers the viewer a breather.

‘The Crazies’ feature very good cinematography, great make-up and visuals, and good acting from an experienced cast. It delivers more jump scares than you can cram into a tin of sardines! (The jump scare music tends to be a bit too much, though).

The film is fast-paced – maybe much faster than it should be. It could have been a bit longer in my opinion. This is not just a horror film (and a rather clever one at that), but also an action thriller, with excellent action scenes. ‘The Crazies’ is one hell of a thrill ride!!

‘The Crazies’ received various award nominations, including Best Wide-Release Film, Best Supporting Actor, Best Makeup/Creature FX, Best Horror, Best Director… The film earned $54 million on a $20 million budget.

Would I watch it again? Definitely.
