The Bourne Supremacy (2004)

Director: Paul Greengrass
Starring: Matt Damon, Joan Allen, Brian Cox, Julia Stiles
When Jason Bourne is framed for a CIA operation gone awry, he is forced to resume his former life as a trained assassin to survive.
‘The Bourne Supremacy’ is a very, very good film indeed. A spy thriller with heart and soul, and emotion. I therefore hesitate to say I enjoyed ‘The Bourne Identity’ more than ‘The Bourne Supremacy’. I don’t want to say I enjoyed ‘Supremacy’ less, as it might give the indication I didn’t enjoy the movie that much. On the contrary, I absolutely loved the film.
Matt Damon once again delivers a great performance as the titular character. Jason Bourne has a new life, but is still trying to figure out who he really is – and still constantly looking over his shoulder. As it turns out, the CIA he worked for now view him as a threat to the company and wants to eliminate him. There to counter-act Ward Abbott (Brian Cox)’s decisions, is Pamela Landy (Joan Allen), who wants Bourne alive to get answers. Pamela is a strong, thorough and determined character, and very well portrayed by Allen.
This time around, Bourne is framed for theft and murder, and he is on the run whilst also working his way closer to the agency to get answers for himself. ‘The Bourne Supremacy’ is an excellent cat and mouse game with fantastic action sequences. The chase sequence during the climax was just awesome!!
The Bourne films remain the better spy thrillers (to James Bond), as they are more realistic and believable. ‘The Bourne Supremacy’ is another incredible film I’m bound to watch again and again.
‘The Bourne Supremacy’ was well received and earned $290.6 million on a $75 million budget. It received several award nominations and among others won for Best Film and Best Actor (Matt Damon).
Would I watch it again? Yes.
