Director: James L. Conway

Starring: Rebecca Balding, Fred McCarren, Anne-Marie Martin

Otherworldly creatures are released from the bootleg tunnels underneath a small-town mining community, and begin chomping on the locals.

Ok, so what the hell are ‘boogens’ anyway? Do we just assume it to be the so called otherworldly creatures? Nowhere in the movie is there any mention of the word boogens.

‘The Boogens’ has very little substance, and a lot of active young hormones! Yes, there’s ass. Yes, there’s boobies. Yes, there’s sex. Since nothing scary or creepy happens during the first three quarters of the movie, they use the dog Tiger as an excuse to provide a scare every now and then. There’s constant promise of something happening, yet it seldom does. The sex-craved youngsters were far more interesting than the ‘monsters’, or boogens, or whatever the hell they are.

We only get to see these monsters during the final 7 minutes, and I think it might have been better not seeing them at all. They are stocky, badly created, lifeless, cheap looking things. One would think they’d have spent a bit more of the budget on creating the boogens, since it is what the film is (supposed to be) about. Allow me to stop laughing at the sight of the monsters while I end this review….(wha-hahahahahahah….!!!)

Would I watch it again? No.
