The Best And The Rest 38

All my life I’ve always had barkadas. I had one in high school, I had 2 in college, and the current one I met about 5 years ago. I think I function very well in group settings, because I’m not very good woth one-on-one friendships. I’ve had many best friends throughout the years, but they’ve been turbulent, to say the least. Barkadas are smoother to deal with for me, because there are many people involved, so the tension, as well as the affection, is healthily spread apart. That’s why some of my all-time favorite movies are barkada movies like “The Breakfast Club”, “St. Elmo’s Fire”, “Stand By Me”, and the recent “Sex And The City”.
March 31, 2008 → The Top Ten Best And Worst Thing About My Barkada
No name – Best: We just remain the best of friends & not “magkasosyo” in any “negosyo”.
Garfield – Worst: Our barkada was separated because of our accomplishments. The less successful ones got left behind. Only those w/ money & cars get together every now & then, excluding the “poorer” ones.
Siomai – Worst: Even if we’re just a small group, whenever there’s a get together, you’ll see that we’re still divided into even smaller groups.
Powerful Alice – Best: My college barkada has outgrown bars & switched to Starbucks (tumatanda na siguro or nagma-mature na) & has stopped smoking, so we now drink coffee inside instead of having it in the smoke-belcher’s area.
Lynx_infiniti – Best: our HS brkada has the extremes. Nasa amin ang valedictorian at bobotorian, may chickboy at basted king, may maputi’t mayaman at maitim na dukha. Ang common denominator, buhay kami sa pancit canton at kwek-kwek pag nag-get together!
Gorgeous Bitch – Best: After 10 years of dead silence, we’re back in each other’s lives. We text, call, email, and often meet for lunch. Worst: They often brag about their married lives.
Frederique – Worst: Lahat luma – kwentuhan, punchline, pulutan, pati kami amoy napthaline balls na sa kalumaan . Best? When we’re all together, parang highschool all over again.
Greg – Best: We’re the best looking bunch of boys and girls you’ll ever see in one barkada. Worst (at least for most people): All the boys are gay, all the girls are lesbian.
No name – Worst: We’re all girls, all of us had or still have illicit affairs, or separated, or can’t get married or can’t have a child. We are just not happy w/ the woman we have become.
Markus – Worst: We’ve known each other since first grade. In 2009 we celebrate our 25th year high school reunion. No one is really excited because we see each other every month. Best: Our barkada is so close our kids think they are cousins.
Harry Porter – Best: We’re all successful and responsible fathers. Worst: We all have or had mistresses.
Chuchi Cua – Best: We’re in our mid 40s, and our barkada from college days made up of 20 guys are still together. One has recently gone to the great beyond but the bond among us, including our families, is still very strong.
Mr.perk – Worst: Most of the time I have to bribe them that someone will shoulder the expenses, just so everybody would attend. Best: Sulit naman lagi pag natuloy ang gimmick.
SPY Shadow – Best: We don’t fight about money and we don’t know the word “utang”.
Cheyenne: Best: We’re all good cooks. Worst: Mahilig namin pag-usapan ang buhay ng may buhay!
Espeks – Worst: Hindi na kami pwedeng mabuo ulit. One of my friends had an affair with our friend’s ex girlfriend.
KiD BuKid – Best: We were all lucky having great wives! Worst: We all have MONSTERS-in-law!
Jose de Vengenge – Best: We’re all close to each other’s families. If one family has an out-of-town vacation, invited lahat.
No name – Worst: People always think that our barkada is the meanest group of people. Best: But when we have drinking/bonding sessions, we could be the best people that you’ll ever meet.
No name – Best: We’re 9 in our barkada and it’s quite amazing how did we all met. We’re from: Cainta, Marikina, Sta. Mesa, Alabang, Fairview, Bulacan, Pampanga, Batangas & Bataan. Worst: 8 of us are on the same wavelength, so we’re quite happy that Marikina is not part of the barkada anymore, because she’s bossy.
No name – Best: We’re all GIRLS in our barkada, and everytime we have a get together, our boyfriends and husbands hang out as wel l. Worst: They got so close, that sometimes, sa lakad namin, kami pa ang nagmu-mukhang sabit.
Jed – Worst: Most of us have secret relationships w/ each other. We’re all bisexuals and born-again Christians.
