The Best And The Rest 125

Childhood memories: where do I start? I guess I’ve always been an unhappy adult because I had such a happy, privileged childhood. I guess I wasn’t prepared to face a much harsher world, which turned out very different from the cushy, love-filled atmosphere growing up. I realized peope weren’t as gentle and nurturing as my dad, and most would feed me to the lions if it benefitted them. Okay, enough of the armchair therapy…

SC – When I was 8 years 0ld, I forced a boy playmate to play Annie, while I played Shaider. He grew up gay.
Agatom – When I was 4, our family fetched this strange woman from the airport. When we got home, she gave everyone presents and she stayed with us for a couple of days. Soon, we brought her back to the airport. Everyone was crying so I asked my dad why. He whispered to me, “That’s your mother.”
Pink Mist – When I was a kid, I accidentally drank gaas. At the hospital, as they were pumping my stomach, I kept screaming, “Walang maninigarilyo!!!”
Siren – I was sexually abused by 4 people: 1 cousin, 2 play mates, and my stepdad.
Kabodskie – When we were young, we were so poor that sometimes dinner consists of 1 hard-boiled egg, divided into 4, while our parents ate only rice. Strangely, we all look back at those days as “the good ‘ole days”. 3 are professionals now: a lawyer, a doctor and an engineer. Ako lang ang walang title, pero I earn more than them…hehehe.
Tin – During grade 1, a classmate was standing on his table and fell on another classmate. When they got up, the classmate he fell on had the pencil she was holding protruding from her head! It was halfway in!
Mcsupremy – On my 1st day in grade 1, I peed in my pants. So I p0ured my orange juice in my pants then told my teacher, na natapon yung juice.
No name – While eating isaw , we started smelling something nasty. The street food vendor ignored us. After we followed the smell, we saw a dead girl in the bushes right behind the isaw stall! We never ate isaw again; the girl was raped and was one of the Marikina rape victims.
Putungtung – When I was 6, my dad saw that I was so sick, my face super red with fever, and so weak. My dad got so panicked that he picked me up in his arms and rushed me to the hospital. When we got to the stairs, he jumped about 7 steps and we both landed in the ER with stitches.
Cruella – When I was 5, I was chased by a gazillion chickens. Since then I’m deathly afraid of anything that has feathers.
Mitch – My boy classmate always teased me and made me cry by calling me ugly. It got so bad I transferred schools just to avoid him. 13 years later we met again. He admitted he teased me only because he had a crush on me. He’s my husband now. 🙂
Sayuri – When I was 5, my dad gave me a walking doll for Christmas. I loved it! That same night, he had a fight with my mom, and during the argument, he threw my doll and it broke into pieces. It was my first ever doll, and my first ever heartbreak. After that, I never bought dolls again, ever.
Homer – During a kinder math contest, the instruction was “Write 1 to 10 the fastest!” I wrote “1, 2, 10”. I won.
Tbone – We used to live by the sea. When typhoon UNSANG hit the country, we awoke to find water inside our house. When my mom asked our neighbors for help, we found out that their houses were no longer there and were washed offshore.
No name – When I was 9, I started hearing noises in my ear. When I was brought to the hospital, they found a sago inside!
Glenn – In fourth grade, I won a city-wide journalism contest mostly dominated by fifth and sixth graders. When I got home and told my parents, they didn’t believe me and even laughed at me.
No name – When I was 8, my dad left for the states. He said, “Don’t cry, I’ll come back for you and your mom. I promise!” That was the last time I ever saw him.
Blair – When I was 5, I had a yaya who would put me inside our stell hamper then put a pail of water on top so I couldn’t get out. Why? Because I wouldn’t take a nap.
Maximo – Boy: “Yoya, batit ato buyoy?” Lola: Kasi, supot ka pa.” Boy: “Nanay, batit ato buyoy?” Mom: “Kasi, supot ka pa.” Boy: “Tatay, batit ato buyoy?” Dad: “Kati, tupot ka pa.”
Vhai – While Dad was polishng his new car, his 4-year-old son picked up a stone & scratched lines on the side of the car. In his fit of anger, Dad took the child’s hand & hit it many times & not realizing that he was hitting the child’s hand with a wrench. At the hospital, his child asked, “Dad, when will my fingers grow back?” Dad felt so bad, torn apart by his guilt, that he went back to the car & kicked the car many times. Sitting back, he saw for the first time the scratches his son made. It read: “I LOVE YOU DADDY!”
