The Bedroom Window (1987)

Director: Curtis Hanson

Starring: Steve Guttenberg, Elizabeth McGovern, Isabelle Huppert

A young executive starts an affair with his boss’s wife which then escalates into a nightmare after he lies to the police in order to protect her.

Terry (Steve Guttenberg) is having an affair with his boss’ wife, Sylvia (Isabelle Huppert). When they slip away from a party so they can be alone together at his place, Sylvia witnesses a brutal attack in the street. Fearing it will expose their affair if she goes to the police, Terry calls the police claiming he witnessed the attack.

Only, Terry never realized he would get so deep involved in the case, and that he would meet the victim, Denise (Elizabeth McGovern). Things get a lot more complicated when he is called to identify the culprit in a police line-up, and subsequently asked to testify. When Denise realizes all is not what it seems, she teams up with Terry to find her attacker.

You can just imagine the amount of lies it takes to cover up a story like this! And this is where I’m ending my review, because I don’t want to do spoilers on mystery films with twists.

The performances are very good, and Steve Guttenberg is oh-so-sexy! ‘The Bedroom Window’ is a well written mystery thriller with plenty of surprises and an action-packed final act. I really enjoyed this.

Would I watch it again? Yes.
