That Autumn Vibe
It’s cozy season! Swetah-wethah!
Maybe some of you are grieving the end of summer, but many of us look forward all year to the time when our planet starts to tilt away from the sun ever so slightly. It is the time for breaking out your favourite hoodie, making a mug of coffee (yes, possibly pumpkin spiced), and getting some rosy cheeks after a good leaf-raking. Joy likes to read books that romanticize the fall at this time of year, and she suggested I write about movies that do the same. The ones that might have a cozy, autumnal vibe.
I’ve checked out a lot of websites that have composed their own lists, and I noticed that many of them share common genres. Therefore, I’ve split this up into several lists of fall romancing movies. Let’s start with school.

When Harry Met Sally (1989)
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe the one movie that could be crowned as the ruler or all autumnal movies would be this last one: When Harry met Sally. It was on every list I’d seen and it’s the first one that comes to my mind when I think of this type of film.
As for the nominees, all 3 this week received a vote, so I chose which one I thought might have the closest thing to the autumn vibe. So…
Congratulations . This is your week.
Best Actress:
Helen Hunt as Cheri Hamilton in Soul Surfer
Best Actor: Jeff Daniels as Preacher in
Best Quote: “I seriously do not think God goes around damning people to hell. He’s too busy running all this!” – AnnaSophia Robb as Leslie Burke in Bridge to Terebithia
I noticed one source putting Edward Scissorhands and The Night Before Christmas on their list. These each give me a definite vibe, though I couldn’t make myself put them on this list. Admittedly, they both have coziness.
At the last minute I wondered if I should’ve included Phantom of the Opera (2004). I didn’t see it on any other list, but I think it gives off that same affection.
