For at least the past decade, Tom Hanks has become the most favourited Hollywood actor. A kind of living legend. Growing up, my family and I all loved watching his movies, and the same is true with the family my wife and I started together. I discovered that I’ve seen 34 of the 72 he’s starred in.

  • The DaVinci Code (2006)

  • Angels and Demons (2009)

  • Pinocchio (2022)

Dragnet

(1987)

  • The Polar Express (2004)

  • Road to Perdition (2002)

  • A Man Called Otto (2022)

  • Saving Mr. Banks (2013)

  • That Thing You Do (1996)

  • Sully (2016)

  • Sleepless in Seattle (1993)

  • Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close (2011)

  • Big (1988)

  • Splash (1984)

  • Greyhound (2020)

  • Bridge of Spies (2015)

  • The Terminal (2004)

  • A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood (2019)

Turner & Hooch

(1989)

  • The Green Mile (1999)

  • Captain Phillips (2013)

  • The Money Pit (1986)

  • The Post (2017)

  • Catch Me If You Can (2002)

  • Elvis (2022)

  • Philadelphia (1993)

  • Cast Away (2000)

  • The Burbs (1989)

  • Apollo 13 (1995)

  • News of the World (2020)

  • Toy Story (1995)

  • A League of Their Own (1992)

  • Forrest Gump (1994)

  • Saving Private Ryan (1998)

And these would be my top 10 favourite Tom Hanks performances:

  1. Fred Rogers in

  2. Josh Baskin in

  3. Viktor Navorski in

  4. Cpt. Richard Phillips in

  5. Woody in (1-4)

  6. Cpt. Kidd in

  7. Chuck Noland in

  8. Andrew Beckett in

  9. Jimmy Dugan in

  10. Forrest Gump in

Congratulations . This is your week.

Best Actress:

Scarlett Johansson as Rosie in

Best Actor: James Stewart as Elwood P. Dowd in

Best Quote: “WILSON!” – Tom Hanks as Chuck Noland in

It should be noted that there are really only 2 of the movies above that I would say I didn’t like: and Yes, I even liked Pinocchio enough to watch it again (but not too many times, mind you…). So, it killed me to look at the bottom 10. I hate to see so many good movies sitting in those spots. But that’s just a testament to Hanks’ excellent run of great films.
