Tender Cube Steaks with Onion Mushroom Gravy

We love tender Cube Steaks! If you want fork-tender cube steaks, here’s how to do it!
INGREDIENTS: Yields 5 Servings
4-5 Cube Steaks
1 cup fresh mushrooms, sliced or quartered5
1 large Onion sliced top to bottom
Carrots are Optional, but I wanted them
1 TBSP Butter
1 can Beef Broth
2 TBSP Cornstarch (or Flour)
1-2 tsp Worcestershire
NOTE: If you’d like to dredge the Cube Steaks in Seasoned Flour before cooking, feel free.
PREPARATION:
Preheat a Cast Iron or other heavy pan. Add 1 TBSP Butter. Add Onions, Mushrooms, and (Carrots, if using). Cook over medium heat until Onions are lightly browned. Season with a little Salt and Pepper. Remove all from pan.
In the same pan, add a pat of Butter and then the Cube Steaks. Turn the heat up a little because you want to sear the Meat. Season with Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Thyme, Rosemary, Salt, and Pepper. Cook about 5 minutes, then flip over. Cook the other side. Just before you take them out of the pan you can add chopped fresh Garlic if you’d like. Remove from the pan.
Too the same pan, add the Beef Broth and immediately add the Cornstarch. Add Worcestershire. Stir with a Whisk to remove any lumps. You can season with Onion Powder, Garlic Powder, Salt and Pepper. Keep Whisking until Gravy begins to thicken. It will thicken more when you bake it.
Add the Vegetables and Cube Steaks back to the pan. Cover and put in a 350 ° F oven for 90 – 110 minutes or until Meat is fork tender. Serve.
