Director: Guillaume Canet

Starring: François Cluzet, Marie-Josée Croze, André Dussollier

An accidental discovery near a doctor’s estate stirs up some painful memories eight years after his wife’s hideous murder, and now, things are bound to take a turn for the unexpected. Does the good doctor know more than he’s letting on?

When swimming at Lake Charmaine one night, Alex and his wife Margot are attacked, leaving Alex unconscious in the water. We jump ahead 8 years and learn Margot was killed that fateful night. When two bodies are discovered near the site where Margot was killed, the police reopen the investigation, and they suspect Alex is not as innocent as he might appear.

Meanwhile, Alex finds it difficult to come to terms with the turn of events. He has tried putting everything behind him, and the killer is believed to be a serial killer named Frank Serton. Alex starts receiving mysterious emails with video clips showing Margot is still alive.

The film gets very involved with a lot of detail and plenty of twists, and many of the events are shown in back flashes. You have to pay close attention to follow, but ultimately this is well worth a watch and a good suspense thriller, with good performances – especially François Cluzet as Alex. The film also has a very good soundtrack.

‘Tell No One’ received 28 award nominations winning 13 including Cesar Awards (the French Oscars) for Best Actor, Best Director, Best Editing, and Best Music. Among the nominations include Cesar nominations for Best Film, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Supporting Actor, Best Cinematography, and Best Sound.

In French.

Would I watch it again? I don’t think so.
