Tasting Notes: Tullibardine 1993

Tullibardine 1993 (Scotland: No Age Listed: Highland Single Malt: 40% ABV)
Visual: Pale, light clear and translucent. A light apple juice colour)
Nose: Alcohol, floral and perfumed (poupouri?). light touch of grapes and a slightly thick cloying sweetness. The smell of wild verdant fields on a summers day. Gets lighter and more appetising with a touch of water.
Body: Light, vanilla. Slightly thin, some grain. Tiny amount of aniseed, heather and nettles. Very floral, annoying alcohol feel. Gets sweeter withwater.
Finish: Touch of alcohol. Crushed petals and dry bread. Then dry airiness and some bittersweet mix. Water adds a touch of honeycomb.
Conclusion: A highly floral whisky with slightly too evident alcohol like character. The harsher notes override the fine floral edges and reduce the enjoyment of this whisky.
Whilst water reduces the harsh elements it also hides the more subtle elements.
Not terrible but it does not stand out well
