Saision Silly (Belgium: Saison: 5% ABV)

Visual: Chestnut brown red with a decent bubbling head that fades quickly.

Nose: Honey, wheat and barley, cream/ American cream soda and ice cream. Crunchy nut corn flakes. Really comes out brilliantly after a long pretentious swirl. Slight red fruits and treacle come out after.

Body: liquorice , cherries. Much fruitier than expected. Rich and full bodied. Sherbet. Fruitcake. Slightly syrupy and black treacle.

Finish: More treacle, almost sickly sweet. Touch of burnt elements. Slight dust at the end and dry wheat.

Conclusion: A surprisingly fruity and full bodied beer, significantly different from a standard saison.

Brilliant nose post swirl, the elements remind me a of a lighter beer version of a sherry influenced whisky.

Too rich to be a light sipping drink, this is more a dessert beer and I will not say a bad word against it.

Lovely, not what you would expect from a saison but fine for what it is.
