Purple Moose: Dark Side Of The Moose (Ochr Tywyll y Mws): (Wales: Porter: 4.6% ABV)

Visual: Sultry deep red with a firm frothy white head.

Nose: Dry hops, flour, slight cocoa. Fresh berries.

Body: Malty chocolate, just slight blackberries. Smooth.

Finish: Dry, rising bitterness and cocoa. Leaves a burnt feeling on the tongue. Raspberry.

Conclusion: An interesting attempt to balance a darker chocolate cocoa beer with a light fruity beer – and one that mostly succeeds

Its flavours never feel schizophrenic and it balances well giving a beer that has many contrasting elements but seems to do so with ease. This makes it a beer that suits many occasions.

Well worth a try and if you have it available to you at demand you will be blessed with the ability to grab a pint whenever one of its many charms appeals to you.

A fine rounded drink.
