Tasting Notes: Plain: Innocence

Plain: Innocence (England: Golden Ale: 4.0% ABV)
Visual: Clear light gold with a dash of an off white head.
Nose: Citrus fresh, pineapple. Mild hops, grapefruit and vanilla.
Body: Sour front, grapefruit, sweet butter and wheat. Croissants. A creamy sweetness. Medium bitter hope back. As you go, a light golden syrup sweetness exudes itself.
Finish: Light yet rising bitterness and medium hops. Dusty texture and light toffee.
Conclusion: Plain ales so far seem to have matched their namesake. Technically they are crafted well, and I can see the elements put together and what they are doing with the pint. They are doing it well, but it really doesn’t excite.
When you have finished the drink, you feel you have drunk a smooth, sweet and slightly hopped ale, but not much more. I wish I could say kinder, but nothing stands out.
