Old Bear Brewery: St George’s Extinguisher (England: Bitter: 4.0% ABV)

(Can find very little detail on this beer to confirm the style, believe to be a bitter)

Visual: Dark burgundy red that glitters in the light, with a pencil thin bubbled head.

Nose: Light smooth creamy hops and caramel.

Body: Bitter body, chocolate, some implacable fruit (maybe black cherry?) Decent dry hoppiness. Sour cherry.

Finish: liquoriceand bitter hops, very lasting dry hops. Black cherry and dry chocolate.

Conclusion: Quite drinkable. The middle body is modest but not exceptional, however the finish makes it smooth and chocolaty without excessive sweetness being introduced.

Nice fruitiness and does the job, low abv makes for a proper session pint.

No ones going to go nuts over the complexity but it plays well with brambles and chocolate flavour and mellows well.

A nice slippers and smoking pipe relaxing session ale.
