Tasting Notes: Hoegaarden: Citrons

Hoegaarden: Citrons (Belgium: Fruit Beer: 3% ABV)
Visual: Cloudy pale yellow with a white bubbled head of quite short duration.
Nose: Lemon, lime. Quite sharp and sherbet like.
Body: Grapefruit. Lemon. Cloudy lemonade.
Finish: Lime. Slick and citrus . Slight fresh wheat.
Conclusion: Ok, none of the elements in the tasting note were a surprise to any of you, were they? Well maybe the grapefruit. Apart from that, if you were shocked by anything please promise me you will never leave your house, I fear what the shock would do to your innocent mind.
Sarcasm aside, yeah it tastes kind of like traditional lemonade. Now I like traditional lemonade, but this doesn’t offer anything that lemonade doesn’t. Well discounting the alcohol buzz and I don’t consider that a worthy element on its own. Taking into account that Hoegaarden is pretty citrus filled by itself it seems even more irrelevant.
So yeah, tastes ok, but why would you drink it over just buying two litres of lemonade?
Background: Hoegaarden was a beer I often had as a treat to myself at university, which may make it one of the first non-crap beers I drank. This beer was bought as part of a pack for normally non beer drinkers while we were in Belgium and tasting noted aboard a small boat.
