Dalwhinnie 15 Year (Highland Scottish Single Malt Whisky:15 Years Old: 43% ABV)

Visual: Light lilac and grain

Viscosity: A few fast thin streak speed down across the glass.

Nose: Grain, floral and vanilla. Citrus and lime. Slight alcohol kick. Very fresh. Roses.

Body: Slick and quite sweet, light honey and a creamy feel. Soft cheese.

Finish: Dry wood shavings, slight charring. Vanilla and a light white wine aftertaste.

Conclusion: An ok but not outstanding whisky. The alcohol feel is too evident for such a light whisky, though I have a feeling a touch of water would probably resolve this issue and improve the whisky.

This whisky does however go exceptionally well with soft creamy cheeses as I found out at last years whisky show. This turns the whole experience into a much more satisfying event and makes a fine purpose to this drink.

Nod bad by itself, but far from the top – If you have a bottle give it a quick experiment with the cheese connection and I’m sure you will find it worthwhile.
