Whyte and Mackay Standard (Scottish: Blended Whisky: 40% ABV)

Visual: Light gold.

Viscosity: Not apparent in glass given.

Nose: Light honey and latticed sugar deserts. Light wood and honeycomb.

Body: Sweet, orange. Slightly thin and has some floral character. Menthol.

Finish: Meringue; some wood. Dry and with a touch of lime. Chewed leaves and burnt wood. liquorice.

Conclusion: A rather simple wood dominated whisky. The flavours don’t quite mix and there are no real stand out notes.

The less pleasant flavours are dominant – not terribly so but it leaves this as a below average drink with harsh elements but not taken to a joyous excess like the heavier drams.

Not recommended.
