Taking Offence

Within the space of 24 hours, I got messaged from two different people.  The first was a friend, a current Super 8s player, who said the Super 8s Statistics was fine work but it would be brilliant if it had passing percentages.  He went on to say it is because it’s the most important part of the men’s game.  He started the whole message with don’t take it as criticism but…

The second was later on that day when somebody else messaged me.  He runs a video production company and is associated with London Polonia (men).  I’ve seen him around but did not know who he was.  He thanked me on the good work of filming and publishing all of the Super 8s matches (see link for all match videos).  However, the London Polonia home matches looked green and this was due to the fluorescent lighting not emitting the full spectrum of light beam.  Hence the green look.  A change in the white balance should overcome it.  He ended the message by saying that he hoped I didn’t take offence by it because he only wants the best possible showcase for London Polonia.

I really didn’t take any offence by the two messages. Maybe it is because I live in the world of performance analysis where you provide constant objective feedback to players and coaches.  It is not meant to be seen as a personal attack on players but asa learning opportunity to make players better at what they do.  I take the same view and hence why I didn’t take any offence.

So if  have any feedback at what I do then please don’t hesitate to contact me on hai.binh.ly@gmail.com.
