Take a Ride on the Struggle Scooter
Hi friends! Have you ever had those moments where every time you pick up a brush, it feels like you forgot how to paint? That was me this week! This happens every so often, especially if I am busy or under a deadline. I was feeling behind and pushing myself to create one of my June Critique Club projects, and I hit roadblock after roadblock. In the end, I like how it turned out, but it was a struggle to get there!

I wanted to create a painting based on my recent trip to Key West, working from my reference photos, but I wanted a different color scooter, and the chickens I photographed weren’t at the right angle, etc. I am sure you have been there, nothing is quite right, and you don’t know how you will pull it together. If you want to see me work through these challenges in real time, you can find the full narrated tutorial in Critique Club. If you want the “Monday Morning quarterback” version, you can watch the time-lapse below.

I hope you find encouragement in today’s video. It can be frustrating when you think you’re the only one who struggles with their art, but rest assured, you are in good company. We all do. Happy crafting!
