EJ Tackett the reigning PBA player of the year started off the season strong. He made the stepladder finals of show after show. However, he just couldn’t win a title. However, in his sixth try of the year he finally broke through and won his first title of 2024 in the Shark Championship.

Kris Prather defeated recent Scorpion champion Matt Russo to open the night 226-198.

His run at the title was short lived though as he lost to Anthony Simonsen 240-224 in the next match.

Tackett then fired a 253 game against Simonsen to eliminate him in the semifinal match.

Shota Kawazoe awaited as the number one seed. Kawazoe was hoping to win his first career title. He was unable to do so as Tackett defeated him 228-213 to win career title 22.

The tour now shifts to the PBA World Championship. 16 bowlers will bowl in round- robin match play for one of nine spots in the stepladder finals. The world championship is the last event of the World Series of bowling.
