Sunday, Sept 7 Match Day!

Updates: Pacific takes match one from Pacific Union 3-1. They are up 2-1 in the second match. In the only non-West match of the day, Bowdoin swept Rochester.

Pacific gets the double. Both 3-1 results.

GFU takes set one but CC puts the hurt on in sets 2 and 3.

Not a fan of the no announcer. Why can’t GFU get a student to do the games?

Some big blocks from GFU in this 4th set. They had 2 set points. Now CC with match point. Nope. Now match point 2. Nope. Set point 3. Nope. Match point 3. Serve out! GFU did that on their first set point coming out of a timeout. Set point 3. Nope. Set point 4. 32-31 right now. Called out. 33-31. Fifth set incoming.

I’ve watched that last hit about 10 times. Close but it was probably in. CC not feeling the love in Oregon.

10 aces for CC in the two sets they have won. Only one or two in the other sets. That seems to be important.

3-3 and the down ref calls the wrong team in the net. Up ref corrects the call.

CC gets the turn 8-7.

Ouch. Service error out of the turn and then an ace for GFU.

CC gets the win. GFU couldn’t find a way to stop the slide with Brooke Brilliant. Those last two sets were more competitive than I would have expected.

Random Thoughts:

The NWC ruining my Sunday and then my Monday but that’s a spoiler. There’s only one other match in the nation today with Bowdoin playing Rochester.

I’m not too excited over those Pacific matches. I think CC will beat George Fox but an away win is always tough.
