Sunday, Oct 13 Match Day!

Updates: Dragging this morning. For you DIII volleyball fans who are also competitive Pokémon fans, my son made second day at the Louisville Regional. He was just eliminated by maybe the most famous VGC player in the world. 10 points to whomever knows who that is in the comments.

This is a long season for Centenary. Rebuilding to be greater in the future.

UCSC is up 2-1 on CNU. Let’s get another upset!

27-25 UCSC in the fourth set after a nice run of points. The beat CNU (again) 3-1. Huge win for the good guys.

Just finished the Wrap-Up. It’s scheduled to publish at 5 pm Central.

Trinity take set one from Colorado College. It will be interesting to see how much in the tank UCSC has after playing CNU and immediately having to play Mary Washington.

Trinity is trying to close out CC in 4-sets. Lead late in the fourth. UCSC is not having a problem with Mary Washington. I can safely say, because of their schedule, that their NPI is artificially low.

NYU has a pretty easy time of it over CWRU. There was a pretty big NPI difference there and this would be considered an NPI upset.

Trinity is able to shut the door on CC. They win 3-1.

Nice weekend for UCSC going 3-1.

Live Stats not working at St Thomas is a thing again.

I feel like I’ve heard this announcer a lot this season and I don’t mind him. But A-Neka Flora is not Annika Flora.

23-22 SU but they were up 9 before UST storms back and actually took a one-point lead. UST will ride emotion so a set one win here may be enough for them to ride it to a match win.

26-24 Southwestern. Interesting play late when SU hit the ball in (looked in but close live) and it was called in but the up referee was going to overrule it. It could have been out but not sure how the up referee had the confidence to change it. Before he makes the call, the down referee says there was a touch. That made it 25-24. No touch there and I think UST wins that set. Small margins. Still no live stats and no NCAA scoreboard stats.

25-21 Southwestern and they now lead 2-0. They needed a comeback in this set and actually scored the final 4 points. Still no stats.

I will have to step aside. UST winning big early in set three. I’ll update when I can.

SU gets the sweep.

In the UAA matches, only NYU was able to get the “upset”. Someone in the know with CWRU may know if they were full speed this weekend. Went 5-sets with Brandis, which is understandable, but coupled with the sweep by NYU, it makes me wonder.

Here are the high NPI matches of the day. They are all out of the UAA, which is why that conference will send the most to the NCAA Tournament this year. Pulling for WashU and our Latvian Izzy.

Region X Matches:

Random Thoughts: Hey! I remembered to do the schedule early this time! I even think UCSC matches are correct! (Well, the first one is, at least.)

Pods conclude at McMurry and St Thomas for the SCAC. UC Santa Cruz finishes up their tournament over at Mary Washington.

Both UCSC matches should be fun. Better chance against the hosts than CNU but I’m writing this before they played on Saturday so maybe no worries for either.

Trinity/CC is always a great showdown. Trinity should be too tough here.

Southwestern finishes the day against St Thomas playing at St Thomas. I’ve seen the best of UST and the worst. They will need to play at their top level to have a chance but it can be done.
