Summer ’21 Sneak Peek for Flows!
This summer, let it Flow, seriously! Because there is a lot of Flow goodness coming your way! And this article is a small sneak peak of what’s to come in Summer ’21 for flows.
Let’s start with a couple of my favourites!
1. Is Changed is FINALLY here for record triggered flows!
If you’re a #flownatic and this doesn’t make you go gaga then I’m not sure what will! 🤷♂️

2. Debug Record Triggered flows!
This one is huge, and certainly a very useful one!
Note: It runs in a rollback mode, helping you avoid making changes to real data while debugging.

3. Debug Details with Governor Limits
To add an icing on the cake, the debug logs on the record-triggered flows can be used to check the governor limit consumption.

4. Update Records element in Before Save flows
This is an interesting one because this element only let’s you update the current record on which the flow is invoked. We could do this already by simply using Assignment elements. However, this element prevents the need of using Decision element(s) to do conditional updates. Unfortunately, Is Changed is not supported in this element.
If you’re wondering if it does a query or not when using the Update Records element, no it doesn’t! *sigh*

5. Fields Component for Flow Screens
This one might look familiar if you’ve already used Dynamic Forms. It let’s you place fields on the screen specific to an sObject record which you later use to create/update record.
NOTE: The feature is in Beta and doesn’t support all the data types like Lookup and picklists.

6. Debug Pause element behavior for Autolaunched flows
Surely a ‘nice to have’ feature, I haven’t tested this one yet though.

7. NEW FLOW ELEMENT: Collection Sort
Honestly, a bit surprised to see this one but definitely very useful for the use cases where you want to limit the records from a Get Records element; no need of Apex action workarounds.

That’s concludes my flow exploration and I’m now eagerly waiting for the release notes! P.S. It’s quite likely that I might have missed some of the features during my exploration. Let me know what did I miss!
You can also do your own exploration by signing up for a release preview org(should be available after April 15th).
Hope you find this one exciting! Catch you in the next one! ✌ Thank you for being an awesome reader! Subscribe to ForcePanda to receive all the latest updates straight to your inbox. 🙂
