Street Trash (1987)

Director: J. Michael Muro
Starring: Mike Lackey, Bill Chepil, Vic Noto
A liquor store owner sells alcoholic beverages to homeless people, unaware of what the bottles actually contain: toxic brew.
I suppose I can understand how ‘Street Trash’ gained a cult following. It is different to other horror movies out there. Unfortunately, though, this was not my cup of tea.
A liquor store owner finds 60 year old wine, Viper, in his basement, and although it has gone off, he decides to sell it to hobos. Those who drink Viper, however, starts melting – as if they consumed acid.
‘Street Trash’ really was trash in my opinion. Terrible acting, continuity errors galore, bad dialogue (and inappropriate too!), and an incoherent script. This was really, really bad. It was like a bunch of random ideas thrown together. Nothing made sense and there was hardly anything interesting happening here. Bronson’s memories of war contributed nothing to the film – or his character for that matter – and was merely to make up time.
‘Street Trash’ became unbearable and almost unwatchable. This is more of a comedy than a horror, and its not even funny. The scene where Bronson cut off a fellow hobo’s penis was just absurdly stupid!
The practical effects of people melting were not too bad. Credit where credit is due. This is definitely the film’s highlight, but still not enough to save it (for me).
Would I watch it again? So definitely not!
