Steeler Monday 9/8/25

S. Samek

Steelers start off 2025 season with a matchup on the road against the New York Jets. Let’s break down how it went in the first Steeler Monday post of the year.

First off, it was good to start the season off with a win. Even if it wasn’t the toughest opponent in the Jets. While it also wasn’t good to see them have to comeback in this game, it was a good thing that they did comeback in this game. So as far as results go and being 1-0 in the standings that’s a good start to the season.

Aaron Rogers went 22 of 30 passing for 244 yards and four touchdowns, while also not throwing an interception. However, he was sacked four times. Jaylen Warren rushed for 37 yards on 11 carries and caught two passes for 22 yards and a touchdown. DK Metcalf caught four passes for 83 yards. Calvin Austin III also caught four passes for 70 yards and a score. Jonnu Smith caught five passes for 15 yards and a touchdown. Ben Skowronek only caught one pass, but it was a 22-yard touchdown. He also recovered a fumble.

Chris Boswell went 4/4 on extra points and 2/2 on field goals, including a 60 yarder that put the Steelers ahead. He continues to be rock solid for the Steelers.

Though the defense for as good as it’s been advertised seemed a bit to be desired. Allowing 32 points and 394 yards to start isn’t great. They allowed Breece Hall to rush for 107 yards. They also only recorded one sack and no interceptions. Not really a great look from the defense statistically, even if they did win.

I think if the defense improves and the offense keeps up this pace, they should be decent this season. I guess we shall have to wait and see how they do as the season goes on. Yet for now it’s good to celebrate the first win of the season.
