Starry Starry Night

(Chico…stop looking at Delle and her mic…)

The whole night started with a hosting we did for the opening of The Spa in Bonifacio High Street. It was a really relaxed hosting (duh, it was at The Spa…) and we were pleasantly un-surprised (since she’s the endorser…) to see one of our most favorite people in the world – the beautiful inside and out, Angel Aquino! She is such a blast of warm sunshine and the goodness of her personality really shines through.

It’s a good thing we were able to finally have a picture with her. She’s always so nice to us whenever she sees us. She told us we’d guest in her travel and food show. She actually got in touch with us right before Holy Week to guest on her show, but we were fully packed already and inasmuch as we would looove to, we had to beg off and squeeze a promise from her to invite us again in the future. We LURVE her!

What I did NOT have the guts to do though, was to approach and to introduce myself to another great beauty, THE Miriam Quiambao. She was sooo beautiful in person and just like Angel, she radiated! But alas, I was way too shy to elbow my way through the many guests to have my picture taken with her. By the time I told Delle about my secret sorrow, she dragged me, told me she would take care of everything, but it was too late…she was gone…(hikbi!). All I have to show for it was a picture of her during the event courtesy of Richard of The Spa…

After the event, we met up with friends at Greenbelt for a late night gimmik. Some friends were over from the U.S. and we were having drinks at one of those hip watering holes that I seldom frequent, unless I’m with hip people, because obviously the only hip thing going on with me are the rickety ones that don’t lie. We were chatting away, as some lounge singer with a guitar was blaring “Bubbly” in the background, when our friend suddenly stopped talking and asked, “Hey, is that actually the girl who sang that?” So I snorted in reply, “Obviously not. You know Pinoys, we’re so good at covering foreign artists.” Then another friend said, “But isn’t she here now in the Philippines?” With that, we all turned, and lo and behold…it was Colby Caillat!!! She was about 3 bars away from where we were, apparently egged on to sing “Bubbly” impromptu, and we sat there, with mouths agape, as she finished her song. Again, I wanted to have a picture taken with her (yeah, yeah, I’m easily starstruck, so sue me!) but was too torpe AGAIN. Delle reminded me of the Miriam episode just a couple of hours ago, and so I took a deep breath, and followed Delle, as I walked behind her holding on to her dress. As we got closer, we saw her handlers wave off the rest of the people who suddenly swarmed around her, wanting to snap a photo or two with the singer. They let a few get their pictures taken with her, but understandably stopped the deluge of fans unless she starts a riot there or something. Despite the seemingly impregnable roadblock, we approached the group like pushy groupies, and introduced ourselves. Thank goodness Wilson and Caress were there to help us out. They told Colby that RX was one of the very first to play her song, so she graciously posed for a picture with us.

We just found the whole night surreal, being with Angel and Miriam (and Dominic Ochoa whom we met as well right before we left. He was such a warm person, so friendly and down to earth!), then finding Colby Caillat in Greenbelt of all places! It was a starry night indeed!

And just as an addendum, when we guested the violinist Lucia Micarelli, who also played lead violin for Josh Groban, A lot of people texted in for me to post a picture of her to see how she looked like, so here it is:

Barrels of gratitude to Richard and Adee of The Spa, our friend Irwin, and Denise for the pictures I used in this post! Maraming Salami!!!
