St. Mary’s knocks off #16 Saint Benedict

The MIAC standings got pretty interesting after St. Mary’s upset No. 16 Saint Benedict in five last night. Set 5 ended 17-15, and both teams hit over .270. The St. Ben’s vs. St. Thomas tilt on Oct. 14 now takes on even more meaning, if that’s possible.

MIAC Standings (through 10/8) St. Thomas 5-0 16-4 St. Olaf 4-1 20-2 Saint Benedict 4-1 18-5 Concordia 3-1 10-5 Augsburg 3-1 12-9 Saint Mary’s 3-2 17-5 St. Catherine 3-2 13-7 Carleton 2-3 12-6 Gustavus 1-4 8-12 Hamline 0-4 10-9 Macalester 0-4 6-10 Bethel 0-5 7-12

St. Thomas already defeated St. Olaf and Concordia. St. Olaf plays at Saint Benedict on Oct. 23. Concordia plays St. Olaf on Oct. 23 and St. Ben’s on Oct. 31.

As always, should be a fun race to watch in one of the premier conferences in the country.
