Spring 2011 News

Buds are moving quickly with the warmer weather but we need plenty of rain before the trees actually blossom, particularly as March has seen very dry weather.

At this time of year, night frost is always a concern and will be until early June.

Bees, both from beehives on the farm and also bumble bees from the hedges and odd corners, are already looking for open flowers. The plums are just begining to bloom, the cherries and pears will follow very soon. Apples should be flowering begining the last week of April.

All being well, providing no serious frosts occur, cherries could be available end of june, apples and plums early august and beans and tomatoes during July.
