“Here we go again!”

I’ve always been fascinated by the sustaining, figurative war between the PlayStation and Xbox, and this apparent confrontation between the two companies still amuses me. People generally appear to adopt amnesiac complacency when regarding them, as though the fact they both attempt to increase their capital alludes them, and is instead replaced by some illusion that they provide sustenance for starving orphans or sanctioning a peace treaty in the middle east. These independent corporations are separated by numerical disposition, differing intents to coax you from your earning, and name, but united in desire to preserve a business. Entrusting either corporation with the your fiscal earnings is akin to being confronted by two separate figures in the street demanding your money; it’s just dependant on who intimidates you more. Perhaps I’m being a little presumptuous and critical, and a more accurate analogy is choosing to go on a date with either Emma Stone or Mila Kunis, but the similarities between them, in a business sense is undeniable. So it’s hardly a revelation that with the reveal of the PS4, that the console “war” is about to once again ensue, with the dismembered carcass of intelligence becoming the first casualty.

"Next gen game? Or a strange mutation at the Toblerone factory?"

“Next gen game? Or a strange mutation at the Toblerone factory?”

While gamers greedily sustain themselves on the sparse preserves offered, by the now shortened existence of this generations consoles, intense vocal and brutish virtual assaults, intensified by the courageous retorts of individuals shrouded by anonymity, via the relative safety of a keyboard, are wringing their hands in rueful solitude, condemning all that you hold true. Such piteous stances that exert such aggression have been a commonality in gaming communities throughout this generation, like a mother bear defending her injured cub from further infirmities. Clouded by deficient, biased reasoning that seems to presume rather than present actual factual evidence, with both sides appraising situations with conflicting conjectures that favours their chosen acquisition, as though their respective purchases and arguments is an involuntary confirmation that they made the right choice. From an exterior perspective such instances means both parties appear to be unsympathetic, egocentrics, who have relinquished all manner of sensible reasoning, punctuated by misinformed or manipulated information and narrow-minded inclinations, that often lean heavily on the oppositions ignorances and vacant illuminations.

"Next gen graphics are certainly impressive."

“Next gen graphics are certainly impressive.”

Civility, married with stimulated debates are seemingly disregarded for more confrontational engagements, culminating in decreased vocabulary proficiency, as endearing and eloquent terms, that are perpetuated by the inevitable references to each others respective mothers–which is hardly a witty exchange of differences, with little hope of repented remission for their derisive offences. Observing conversions between one open-minded fan, capable of accepting his consoles successes and failures, and another dismissive individual who presents such earnest ferocity to something that clearly rouses their resentment, is akin to watching Muhammad Ali sparring with a delinquent juvenile, who has only a vague recollection of his contemptuous formulations. Such an aversion to truth, and soliciting unwarranted discourse just seems self-destructive, prompting further retaliation between a small subsidiary of absent-minded fans and little chance of reconciliation. The ingenuity of the future warrants much anticipation, with both companies looking to secure more sustainable income through combative enticements. Of course there needs to be a certain element of discrepancy between the two sets of fans, to maintain healthy competition, but certainly not a complete dereliction of senses.

In a decade from now don’t expect to be playing the PS5 or Xbox 1,440, as you’ll likely be anticipating the AppleStation or the Colgate box–the latter I’ll concede is a little implausible, but you get my point. Things are constantly shifting, altering beyond all comprehension, so don’t waste time on unnecessary conflictions. Its hard enough to dedicate ample time in a consoles residence, without then expending precious sentiments berating prospective cynics with contrived views, and countering them with equal visceral resentment. Bureaucracy it seems, is just as prevalent in gaming and not restricted to the confines of Parliament (unfortunately).

Do you enjoy debating a consoles pro’s and cons? And do you like indulging the inept contingent with a hapless understanding? Let me know your thoughts.
