Songs that were taken to the next level by the featured artist.
There are a lot of songs that are bop for the start to the finish but some songs go to the next level because of the artist that is featured on the song. A feature is a very important part in the rap scene. It’s a great way to break the monotony of an album and give a fresh perspective to the song. Picking the right person to feature on the song is something that needs to be done with a lot of caution because it can make or break the song. Most of times the featured artist and the main artist blend together really well and make the song amazing but there are certain times when the featured artist takes the limelight with a flow that is unmatched and takes the song to a different dimension.

This list is a rundown of songs that I keep going back too, mainly because of the featured artist on the song which increase the replay value of the track for me.
• A Lot(21 Savage ft J Cole)– 21 Savage as an artist has shown tremendous growth in his latest album ‘I am> I was’ and has given out a pretty solid verse on this song but the song is elivated to the next level. In his verse, Cole reflects on his career, comments on the state of the music industry, and offers advice to athletes and other artists. For me this was one of J Cole’s best verse ever and it makes this song one of my favorite songs from 2018.

• Faking it ( Calvin Harris ft khelani and Lil Yachty)– Calvin Harris revamped his music with his album Funk Wav Bounces Vol 1 when he totally changed his style of music and gravitated towards making more funky pop songs rather than producing EDM bangers. In this song Lil Yatchy steals the show with his perfect flow and a unique style of delivery. His voice suits this song perfectly and the way he delivers his lines makes me rewind the song to his verse again and again.
• Costa Rica( Dreamville, JID, Bas)– it’s really difficult to stand out on a song like this where there are so many artist who keep going bar after bar killing it but Ski Mast the Slump God makes it look so easy. My favorite verse of this song comes from him and it really increased the replay value of the song for me. Ski starts his verse saying ‘ I got too much skills’ and he proves that as this verse flows further. I just wish the verse was a little longer but I should be happy with what I received.
• Homicide (Logic ft Eminem)– Logic’s ‘Confessions of a Dangerous Mind’ was a disappointment in a lot of ways but this song was the opposite to that. Eminem is the greatest rapper alive and if you bring him on a song with you, you can expect him to take the limelight with the first word he spits out of his mouth. The best thing about the song according to me was the transition from Logic’s to Eminem’s verse and then Em just goes like a total machine gun.

• Night Call( Steve Aoki ft Lil Yachty and migos)– this song keeps going down hill as each artist comes and ruins the song bit by bit with sub par verses. Then comes Takeoff the most underrated member of migos according to me. He has a short verse but he goes so hard with his bars and the flow is impeccable. I feel Takeoff is one of the best artist to feature on your song and he delivers every single time.
• Bali (88 Glam ft Nav)– Nav as an artist can become quite bogus when you’re listening to his song on a loop but some of his songs and verses are pretty good. One of them is this where Nav steals the limelight in his verse. He switches things up a little with his flow which makes this song really interesting. The brown boy delivers this time and gives this song a cool groove.
• Attention (Rich Brian feat Offset)– Rich Brian has a really deep voice which is unique in a lot of ways and his songs have gotten better ever since he blew up. Offset on this song blends really well with Rich Brian’s voice and uses his signature flow and adlibs. Dropping references and bringing out his choppy flow Offset makes this song one to come back to again and again.
• Tints (Anderson .Paak feat Kendrick Lamar)– Anderson has a very unique sense of music and his music style is unique. When I saw Kendrick Lamar as a feature on it I was really excited to hear this song and I was really surprised by what I heard. Kendrick Lamar took his verse and made it really interesting and blended well with the beat. Kendrick Lamar seems to be having a great time on this song and so will you after listening to this.

• Champion (Nav feat Travis Scott)– Travis Scott is the king of Autotuned Rap and his hooks and verses always makes the song better even if it’s a small feature. In this songs Travis starts the song and sings and raps alongside Nav and there voice perfectly blends with each other. Together they make this song something that you can keep coming back to again and again.
This list is purely based on my opinion and I don’t think that the artist on this song couldn’t have made a good song without a feature. The featured artist just makes the song more interesting to listen to and gives it a fresher perspective. The link to each song is attached to the name if you want to check them out.
