In what would be considered one of the

In what would considered to be one of the biggest power moves in hip hop history. Snoop Dogg “purchased” the rights to his old home “Death Row Records”. The Death Row name has been under several different companies since 1996 and with Snoop Dogg finally getting the keys to the label, Its gonna be totally interesting to see the direction he’s gonna take in terms of direction. He’s started by signing new acts including the son of the late legendary Nate Dogg “NHale”, Suga Free is rumored to sign on next, Tha Dogg Pound is rumored to drop Dogg Food II later this year so this looks to be a great acquisition for the fans.

To celebrate a new era, Snoop Dogg released a new album(ironically on the date Tupac dropped All Eyez on Me) to kick off the new vision. The album cover has the whole Snoop Dogg Cartoon from Doggystyle and the intro started with The Chronic like intro with the difference is Snoop Dogg rapping over the Chronic Intro beat instead of talking shyt over it. Snoop’s Flow is still polished as ever.

What I like about the B.O.D.R. album is that it has Snoop Revisiting his G- Funk roots. Snoop has never been afraid to experiment with different sounds but when he gets into his West Coast G Funk bag is where he sounds like he’s more comfortable and at home. Songs such as Coming Back, Outside the Box (featuring the late Nate Dogg) House I built and and the Boosy Collins influenced Snoopy Don’t Go.

What people also forgot is that Snoop also have signed on to be A Executive Consultant for Def Jam Records so you are also gonna have your hardcore records showing love to the East coast out there. He reaches out to Nas for the hook on Conflicted. Uncle Murda and Jane Handcock(Whom is apart of the new Def Jam wave) joins Snoop for the dope East/West collab In The Air. Uncle Murda straight up butchered this verse and it gives him a new introduction to a new era of fans.

One of my personal favorite tracks off B.O.D.R. is the Game Featured Jersey on the Rafters and This has to be one of the hardest verses Game’s has ever spat. Its clear that theres tension between him and Dr Dre with the jab that he threw at him in the beginning but when Game is motivated and fired up, He’s one of the best spitters out there:

My only complaints of this album is that I wish that we got to hear more of the Death Row Alumni and some more production from DJ Quik, Daz, or maybe Dre would have helped. Plus Snoop’s subject matter would be considered limited but thats alright because the man knows how to pick the best production and his flow aged like fine wine. B.O.D.R. is a great start for a new direction

King Eric rating: 9 outta 10
