An illustrious British boarding school becomes a bloody battleground when a mysterious sinkhole appears at a nearby fracking site unleashing unspeakable horror.

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost once again team up for another comedy adventure. Only, this time I’m not sure I’m going to remember this movie over time. And I don’t even care…

I’ve come to enjoy comedy horrors lately, prompting me to watch ‘Slaughterhouse Rulez’. Unfortunately, this is more silly than funny, and little to no (mentionable) horror. The film is set at an elite school. From the opening scene, there were so much wrong with the script and dialogue that made me raise en eyebrow. Little here were believable, and was purely intended as slapstick, and to make the film work (the way the producers wanted it to, although nothing here really gelled).

I hardly rooted for any of the characters. The main protagonist is Don Wallace (Finn Cole), who goes to the elite school Slaugtherhouse (why would they even call an ELITE school Slaughterhouse???). Soon after arriving, he becomes smitten with Clemsie (Hermione Corfield), and would do anything just to be close to her. Oh, cliché, cliché, cliché… His roommate, is Willoughby (Asa Butterfield), whose previous roommate died under mysterious circumstances.

Nearby, a company is digging for gas…and shortly thereafter strange creatures emerge from the depths. These creatures are a bit lifeless and were not scary at all. They looked like greased rubber props. The kill scenes were so slapstick that I just sat there shaking my head wondering why oh why I was watching this.

On a positive note, the film has really good sound effects, and an eerie score. The photography also wasn’t too shabby. In general, though, this is a forgettable comedy horror.

Would I watch it again? No.
